I spent hours trying to solve to no avail. If I try to download a file from dowload.com for example it doesn't work. As soon as I try Firefox says '....could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.', Chrome says 'Failed - network error', in IE, the file downloads, but after the installers download, programs like AVG or MalwareBytes do not continue to download and I get Windows errors.
I'm using Windows 10 with the latest updates and a wireless N adapter on a Dell. I uninstalled AVG in case that was the problem, but now I'm unable to download it fully again to reinstall. I temporarily disabled Windows Defender in case, but no help. I did just replace my modem with a TC-7610 with Comcast and apparently enabled IPv6 on my WD N750 router in case that is a factor. The rest of my internet works as far as I can tell with loading websites, but the downloads seem blocked for some reason.
I tried various fixes but nothing has worked. I think it's likely related to the new modem, but I could be wrong. I'm not good with advanced settings, but I'd really appreciate if someone can help me.

Unfortunately, sometimes you can encounter the issue of not being able to update or download the browser. When that happens, there are a few things to try, although it’s not a guarantee that will work. Nevertheless, the fixes have been proven to work in most cases, so they are definitely worth trying out. So, here’s what you can do to fix this problem. Can't Download On Windows 7
■ First, make sure that you’re downloading Chrome from www.google.com/chrome/. That being said, if you did and you have problems, try to install it offline with the different installer. Use this google link to download the installer on some other computer: https/www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html?standalone=1.
■ After you do, copy the installer to the computer you want to install Google Chrome and try to install it.
■ If that didn’t help, there’s probably a problem in the registry or with some leftover Google files. Now when you dabble with the registry keys, be very careful as you can potentially harm your computer if you delete or change a wrong thing. That being said, in the start menu search bar, type “regedit” and press Enter.
■ Click on the small right arrow near HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
■ Find the folder named Software and again click on the small arrow.
■ In here find and right click on the Google folder, and click Delete. (If you have trouble deleting any of these folders you might need to do this in Safe Mode)
■ Now do this for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Again click on the small right arrow.
■ Click on the small arrow at the SOFTWARE folder.
■ And again, find the Google folder, right click and Delete.
■ You also might need to do this. While you’re in the Software folder, scroll down and find Wow6432Node and open it (again, by clicking on the small arrow). Now just find the Google folder in here and delete that one too.
■ After you’re done with all that, restart your computer and try installing Google Chrome now. If you’re still having trouble, you can contact Google support and see if they have any solutions.
